Once in a Blue Moon...

It's time for a BLUE MOON  actually they may not appear blue at all but more like they are grey.  I actually took these photos last night with a 100-200 aperture setting and f stop of 8.

You can catch the true blue moon tonight after sundown because the next time there will be a blue moon will be January of 2018.

New York City's Water Towers

If you look up every once in a while you'll see very colorful water towers that are not actually filled with water.  They are the work of Tom Fruin who is also the genius behind the stained glass house in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Currently on display through the end of summer in Brooklyn is a  Gowanus Water Tower  which lights up from 8pm to 1am nightly.  They are truly works of art and I would commission one if I didn't live in a studio.

She woke up like this and no I'm not talking about Yoncé

Jennifer Lopez just turned 46 years old and the 40s haven't looked better and true to JLo style she is wearing this little black cut out dress by Bao Tranchi it is not wearing her.

Note to self time: Do one thousand sit ups forthwith.

Shakespeare in the Park Dahlink

I'm convinced that if New York City, meaning all five boroughs, didn't have so many great free events during the summer there would be total anarchy because you just can't have millions of people milling around with nothing to do.

This is my second time going to Shakespeare in the Park and it was lovely as usual.  I bought Wafels & Dinges to snack prior to watching the three hour production that starts at 8pm and I then settled in for an evening watching "Cymbeline" who/what you ask?  My question precisely but it was very entertaining and the vibe was updated so that it took on a more modern feel.  Get in line early for tickets or try the lottery system because Shakespeare in the Park is well worth the wait.

New York City Public Pool - Koscuiszko Pool

Finally it's hot this summer and for those of us who don't have a private pool or access to a pool via a hotel or very expensive building then New York's many public pools may be for you.

Let's start with Koscuiszko in Bed Stuy Brooklyn this pool is HUGE, Olympic size huge.  Bring as little as possible because they have locker and shower attendants that will make sure you leave everything on their don't list behind.

They clean the pool from 3pm to 4pm everyday so after 4pm is probably the best time to go if you're a bit of a germaphobe.  They run a tight ship between getting you in, inspections and shutting it down at the end of the day - I almost felt like I would need to bend over and cough but you don't and I need to stop watching "Locked Up" but I digress.

You'll have a great time at Koscuiszko Pool but remember it's New York City, it's a big unheated pool so it's cold by like two different levels, the first being just plain old cold and the second being when you touch the bottom I call that "say what?!" cold.
