Biking Around New York City...

When I was eleven I went to Los Angeles to visit family and while riding a bike on a hill, surprise, surprise I got so afraid of the cars whizzing by I feel off the bike and broke my arm.  No one was next to me, no one hit me it was just fear that caused me to fall over and injure myself.  I had to spend the rest of my summer vacation with a cast on my left arm and even had to start school with it on - that's another story for another time.

Since then the first time I got on a bike and rode around was on vacation with friends in Belize and now that I live back in NYC - yeah another story for another time.  I bought a foldable Citizen Bike.  It's a great bike although very heavy at 30 lbs so it's not as commuter friendly as I'd hoped but it's mine, it fits into my tiny NYC apartment and most importantly it's cute so between the bike, my new nutcase helmet XL to fit over these locs and a good bike route app I'm ready to go!

And if you're as confused as I am about which bike lock to buy here's a Gizmodo.com video to help make the choice a little easier.

Breaking Bad...

For years I've seen the subway posters, commercials and heard people talk about this show like it is the Holy Grail of TV, well it's pretty darn close.  I just blasted through all five seasons and hats off to #VinceGilligan the creator and #BryanCranston and #AaronPaul the main characters who I oddly enough loved and wanted to put into headlocks at the same time.  I won't comment on the series finale except to say yeah #BreakingBad was pretty awesome.

The Maison Lancel...

This past summer I was at the Louvre, the crowds were bearable but without the proper history and knowledge of the bazillion exhibits you can get a wee bit bored so I decide to take a break with every intention of going back to see more than the Mona Lisa.  Wait a minute, lookey here a #Lancel shop mind you I had never heard of this luxury brand yet I was sucked into the store much like dust bunnies under a vacuum cleaner.

Lancel is French, it is lovely and I bought this beautiful clutch that coincidentally is big enough for my iPad mini.  I fell so hard in love with Lancel that in a matter of moments I was saying Mona who?

Movie Review: The Grandmaster...

I don't know about you but this girl loves martial arts films and The Grandmaster does not disappoint it is part history, part romance, part beauty thanks to the director Kar Wai Wong and part action packed thanks to stars: #ZiyiZhang and #TonyLeungChiuWai - how many parts was that?  Anyway, no self respecting Kung Fu wannabe would let this leave the theaters without see it!

Pole dancing is not sexy, you heard it here first...

Okay, this will seem like a roundabout way to getting to the reason why I'm taking pole dancing classes.  Let me clarify I am not stripping, I am taking classes like aerobics or even spin.  I have always wanted to do a #ToughMudder but after watching a few Mudder videos I realized there is no way I would be able to pull myself up, over or through those obstacles.  I hate the gym but I like taking fitness/dance classes.  I've been taking pole classes for a couple months now and you know what?  Pole dancing is not sexy at least not when I do it.  Pole dancing is a SPORT it is very technical and I am building strength but what looks like an easy maneuver takes a strong core, upper body strength, courage to not be afraid of face planting and a whole lot of bruising.  Don't believe me?  This is Nicole "ThePole" Williams from Rihanna's #PourItUp video, she's been poling for six years but watch her hands, elbow grips, knee grips and thigh grips.  Her speed comes with experience but at times she's slow and deliberate - that's all core, now tell me that pole dancing is sexy!  Well, at least it's not when I do it.

Michael Kors...

Nuff said, he's awesome, he's affordable and he was on sale so I had to get these open toe lovelies even though the season is ending to winterize them I'll throw on some tights and make it happen!

Caribbean Jerk Festival...

Jerk is hot but the festival this year was even hotter due to all the great vendors and #Jamaican performers #Shaggy and #MaxiPriest it was an awesome day!

Mister Sunday...

#MisterSunday in Gowanus #Brooklyn gave me my summer dancing fix.  When I first met friends there I couldn't believe I was about to pay $15 to party in what looked like the backyard from #SanfordandSon - no frills at all and then I heard the DJ and was hooked!  It's done for now but there is always the summer of 2014.

Great Movies: "The Butler"...

All star cast including #Oprah, #ForestWhitaker, #CubaGoodingJr and #Lenny Kravitz all directed by acclaimed director #LeeDaniels of #MonstersBall and #Precious fame.  I smell at least a #GoldenGlobe or #Oscar nod for one of these fine performers.

Being on trend...

I am all about individuality and marching to the beat of a different drum but after visiting Paris in June and seeing what my fellow fashionistas are wearing I had to get 'em.  I haven't owned a pair of combat boots since my #DocMartens back in college but these boots by #SteveMadden are hella cute day, night, dressed up or dressed down I will be rocking these for quite some time.

End of summer block parties...

Growing up in New York City I remember sweltering heat where you could hardly breathe, no a/c and only one BIG fan that didn't oscillate.  I remember sitting close to the fan when it was my turn for relief and if you talked into the fan your voice had a weird vibration to it now I have central air and milder summers and a best way to end the summer - the all important block party.  What makes a good block party?  Good food, good vibes, a great DJ and great friends that's something they don't tell you about in those touristy guide books.
